I'm very proud to be one of the founding members of Women GAIN Rwanda, a local NGO that aims to promote the participation of women in leadership and gender equality activism through training on leadership politics, democracy, human rights, and policy advocacy. Women GAIN Rwanda was born from the Intwari Women program I was part of, and I learned a lot from it. I learned the importance of having women in decision-making positions.
After learning all this, we want to give back to our communities by training young women in leadership the same way that we were trained to encourage them to run for office. We are in the midst of a campaign to raise $18,000 that will help to run all the planned annual projects of Women GAIN Rwanda. Particularly, I have a personal goal to raise at least $1,000 that will go toward promoting women and girls' participation in leadership and decision-making processes and building networks and programs that connect them.
From different projects that we plan to run, I have my focus centered on leadership workshops for women as it's an issue close to my heart. From the Intwari Women program, I learned how to express myself, advocate for others, and how different policies affect our lives and this knowledge shouldn't be gatekept, every girl/woman should know about it so that they can create positive change in their own communities
